Leobo Lodge

On the edge of the escarpment in the malaria-free Waterberg mountains, overlooking the sweeping Palala Valley, Leobo Lodge is the classic African counterpart to the architectural drama of The Observatory next door — nine rustic-chic chalets built into the side of the mountain, each with its own fireplace and ensuite bathroom, and each framing a view that stretches as far as the eye can follow. Teeming with plains game, hippo, buffalo, and crocodile, and rich in Bushman rock paintings and archaeological history, the 20,000-acre reserve is yours exclusively for the duration of your stay — no other guests, no other groups, no limits.
The nine chalets sleep up to 17 guests in a thoughtfully varied mix of spaces: four luxury chalets with king-size beds and panoramic views, a superior double, three standard twin and bunk rooms perfect for children, and a family chalet with its own two-bedroom layout. All are ensuite with bath and shower. The communal spaces are as generous as the setting — multiple lounge areas, a fully stocked bar, snooker table, table tennis, sauna, boma, sunken fire pit, and a spectacular heated swimming pool carved into the face of the mountain itself, shallow enough for young children and dramatic enough for everyone else.
The activities list is as long and varied as the reserve itself: game drives, horse riding, quad bikes, fishing, fly camping, helicopter rides, and stargazing from Leobo's extraordinary observatory dome. For those wanting the full Big Five experience, a neighbouring reserve 50 minutes away can be arranged for a half-day game drive.
For very large groups or multi-generational families, Leobo Lodge can be combined with The Observatory for up to 27 guests sharing the entire reserve exclusively between them.
