Castello di Cabbiavoli

Castello di Cabbiavoli's history dates back to 1210, when the Counts Alberti of Certaldo built it at the center of the Val d'Elsa, later transforming it into an elegant country mansion. The castle boasts a beautiful Baroque façade, and is sided by a brick tower which now serves as a romantic suite and a 13th Century chapel, where small wedding ceremonies have been performed since its erection. Wall frescoes of hunting scenes verified by their trophies adorn the halls and living quarters. An attentive staff care for guests' every need in this sumptuous residence turned informal holiday villa.
The front door opens onto the hunting room with its fireplace. From there, a beautiful marble staircase winds up to the first floor. From the living room a corridor provides access to the rest of the house. The spacious and fully equipped kitchen on the right has terracotta flooring and beamed ceilings. Along the corridor, beyond a guest bathroom, there is a sumptuous dining room with French windows that access the courtyard. Further on, the main living room with fireplace there is the library. To the right, the Federico Barbarossa bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath.
On the first floor, at the top of the marble staircase, a long corridor leads to the bedrooms: the Yellow double bedroom with ensuite shower and Jacuzzi bath; two twin bedrooms, the Celeste and the Pink bedroom both with their own bathrooms, yet another double bedroom with an outside balcony overlooking the front garden. The Medieval Tower stands alongside the villa as part of the original castle, and has a private access, a double bedroom with ensuite shower room and breathtaking roof terrace.
The villa faces a spacious garden with open views of the Tuscan countryside: dramatic views of the vineyards and the undulating, fertile countryside below, on the horizon the towered town of San Gimignano. In front of the lemon house, where citrus are stored in the winter months and now is converted into a games room, are comfortable sofas to enjoy aperitifs and outdoor games. Next to it a shaded dining area for the evenings, as lunch is normally served behind the Tower in another very cosy and cool area. A staircase leads down from the lawn to aswimming pool (10x5m) surrounded by an arcaded loggia.
