Casa Aenaria bestows a fresh image of living on the island of Ischia, a volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the coast of Naples, in Italy. It’s well known for its natural thermal spas, lush landscapes, and beautiful beaches. Just a few minutes outside Ischia Porto, where any ferry from the mainland arrives, presenting a semi-circle of cafés and seafood restaurants. The house is accessed along a residential road and leads to a gated property with parking for two cars inside. The gardens present a lawn and awning with citrus trees and typical shrubbery, but firther down on the terraces is a cosy swimming pool and sundeck, as well as an outdoor shower. Above, the panoramic dining terrace with its kitchen corner, pizza over, and sofa areas overlooks the greenery and the sparkling blue waters beyond.
Carefully refurbished by the owner who is also an interior designer in Milan, Paris and Marrakech, the sleek yet colourful Casa Aenaria interiors comfortably host families with children in four double bedrooms and one twin single, or a few couples spread over its two storeys. The bedrooms all have their own bathrooms as well as private accesses to the outdoors.
Beaches and thermal spas are within close reach by car. The island has a deep history influenced by the Greeks, Romans, and later the Aragonese. The Castello Aragonese is a dramatic medieval castle on a rocky islet connected by a bridge—a must-see. Ischia is greener and more mountainous than nearby islands. The Monte Epomeo, the island’s highest peak, offers panoramic views after a rewarding hike. Very easily accessed from Naples, with long sandy stretches to small rocky coves, Ischia’s beaches are varied and scenic.
