Dating back to the 12th Century Villa Rignana has a long history and was once a monastery now transformed into delightful private residence, painstakingly restored to retain and enhance its original historical features, furnished with Florentine family antiques. It can accommodate up to 20 guests in ten double rooms, drawing rooms with large fireplaces, a library with a wide range of books, gazebos, pergolas, indoor and outdoor dining rooms. The garden has a range of aromatic herbs which inebriate the air, rows of lavender accompany the path to the infinity pool, and the view is enchanting in every direction.
Villa Rignana is ecologically run and most of the products used in the kitchen come straight from its grounds. Extra virgin olive oil, vegetables, goose eggs, fruits, berries and game meat are all found on premises. Family pets consist of 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, 2 Arab horses, a range of geese, ducks and chickens, as well as Caterina the cat. They are all very friendly and love to be petted.
The Villa has full time staff who make the stay truly relaxing as per Italian custom. On the grounds of the Rignana estate there is a superb marble constant flow swimming pool of 18 x 8 m, an outdoor Jacuzzi, a bocce pitch, ping pong table, croquet, tennis/badminton court and a trampoline. In the villa’s tower is a gym room with sauna and steam shower, where massages and beauty treatments can be arranged. The detached guesthouse, only a few metres from the main villa, has two lovely ensuite double bedrooms and a little extra privacy.
